Wowsers, it has been a LONG time since I have blogged! I have always tried to stay on top of my posts but it seems that holidays, weddings, the children; basically life! has been moving along at such a rapid pace it's been difficult for me to keep on top of it all! There are a lot of shoots I haven't blogged, and perhaps at the end of the year I will do a little recap with all my favourites as I so enjoy reminiscing all those happy moments.
One of the things I love most about what I do is going back through the photos I have taken. It really is re-living the day. Especially so with weddings. It's such an emotional day, to just be there is something special, but to be the one who records it all is just immeasurable. It's the biggest privilege I know. To be there from when it all starts over breakfast, knowing what the bride looks like and what the dress looks like before everyone else has seen her. All the little details like the jewellery, the family heirlooms that have been passed down, the joy in her parents' eyes when they see her for the first time dressed and ready for her big day. Knowing that the groom is anxiously waiting for his Bride-to-be. Those moments are just priceless and it's an incredible feeling knowing you are one of the very few people in that close circle who have witnessed these details. I feel like part of an elite group, like a special person being there. Going back through the photos I remember the funny jokes that have been said, the silly banter, the nerves; photos have such a powerful story to tell.
When I first met Verity and Houston over coffee in Costa's, I remember thinking how young they were, and it reminded me of when I got married (and made me feel so old!!). I was so excited for them as they told me all their plans. I then got to see how wonderful they are together when we did our engagement shoot. I was tired as it was late, and I really just felt like curling up with a cup of tea, but after my photoshoot with them I was just so excited for their big day and felt rejuvenated. I remember coming home with the biggest smile on my face and telling my husband how amazing they were. How relaxed, silly, and so in love that I just knew their wedding day was going to be The Bees Knees!
It was emotional watching two very different cultures join together in such love and harmony and being witness to their traditions. I loved how the bridesmaids and groomsmen were so game for everything and anything, and even though we were late for the wedding breakfast everyone was just so cool and chilled out (I need to take a leaf out of this book!). It really was one of the most relaxed weddings I have been to, and I loved it.
The picture of purity, happiness, and love, I really felt quite humble to be there. Can't thank these guys enough for choosing me to be there with them, what an experience. I have literally flown through the photos and chosen a few of my very favourites. Xx
