My wedding season for 2019 started off beautifully with the most laid back, happy pair Abby and Chris! I loved watching everyone hustle about and was greeted with such happiness and laughter at the hotel. I count myself really lucky to be able to work with such amazing suppliers, and it was a joy to see Liz who I have met from previous weddings doing everyone's hair (I am even photographing her wedding this year!). Abby was really calm and smiley, and just seemed to be beaming with joy! We made our way to one of my most favourite places, Dodmoor House, which is just a little slice of heaven. Everyone there are so welcoming, and the bridal suite decor is beautifully done (I'm going to move in there one day...!).
As they always do, the morning just whizzed by and I spied the guys arriving, making some time for a few beers in the sunshine before the first guests arrived. Lush. They all looked ah-maze-ing in their vintage hired suits. Abby was getting final touches ready and she was just a picture. My eyes must have doubled and gone all misty, as she just looked so so beautiful in her princess gown, she was from a fairytale. I wanted to whisk her away to a magical wood somewhere and take a million photos!! All the beautifully dressed friends and family made their way inside for the ceremony. There were nervous giggles, tears, hugs, kisses, it was all perfect.
Abby's sister had everyone in stitches during the group photos, I think by the end everyone's faces were aching. And it was nice as I didn't have to worry about anyone not smiling! Her brother was brilliant and certainly brought the fun to the table, leaping about and just full of energy and charisma.
I just loved doing the bridal photos with everyone, it was effortless. I whisked Abby and Chris super quickly for some photos, before we went inside for the speeches. And oh. my days. Chris's cousin and also amazingly talented videographer (who was filming with his colleague as well as being part of the bridal party), did THE best speech. I mean ever. I don't even know where to begin, only to say I have heard a lot of speeches and this one gets a double high five. The amount of effort, dedication, and time that went into it was unbelievable, traveling from the Southampton all the way up to Leicester, going 'back in time' through a Dr Who phonebox, and filming it all to take Chris and Abby back down memory lane. It was genius, and you can watch it here!
The evening was soon upon us, dancing, more laughing, drinking, and general awesomeness continued, and I thanked my stars at how blessed I was to photograph such an amazing couple, at such a beautiful wedding.
