I always get really excited when couples tell me they are having their ceremony outside. For a fleeting moment I also wonder what the weather will be like, but then I quickly cast that aside as there's nothing we can do about the weather anyway, so you might as well do what you want! Sonia and Danny got married at The Tree Cathedral which is all completely outside, with just trees for cover. And it was beautiful. The day couldn't have been any more perfect. Everyone was so happy and relaxed, and I felt so very welcome. All the trees were in bloom and there were even bluebells out so I was giddy with excitement with all the photo opportunities lined up for the day!
Sonia arrived with her two bridesmaids wearing the most elegant gown- that she made herself! I knew she was making her dress as she had told me and it was one of the things I was most excited about on the day. The ceremony was conducted by their close friend Will, with readings from the two bridesmaids Leanne and Kylie. I had a brilliant time with Sonia and Danny taking photos while the guests went on to the reception at Milton Keynes Village which is so beautiful with quaint thatched cottages and wild flowers dotted along white picket fences.
When we arrived at the venue to join the guests I scoped out all the hand made decor that Sonia had made, with some help from her friends and family. Leanne, Kylie, Toby and Lewis had helped set up the night before and it all looked fabulous. The cake was absolutely amazing and totally original following the woodland theme, and really suited them. I hung out in the kitchen for some company with their friend Kim who had catered for the entire wedding and wow what a lot of food. It was amazing... and the puddings!! Oh My Days! Kim took me under her wing and kept offering me food and drink to eat, and then piled a massive serving dish for me to take home to feed the family! With puddings and cake balanced on top! She even took the cake outside and plonked it on the grass so I could take some better photos, at one point we were both lying flat on our fronts photographing it, I think Lewis the best man took a photo of our silliness on his phone (if you have I'd love to see it!). Her lovely husband Andy was manning the bar with colourful cocktails and being a gin lover, I had to try the fluorescent green number with gin being one the main ingredients. It didn't disappoint!
The first dance nearly had me in tears, with the most amazing version of I'm Gonna Be (500 miles) I have ever heard by Sleeping At Last (check out the link, really), it was beautiful. The entire day itself was just humbling. I felt full of happiness as I drove home in the gorgeous summer light and felt really happy and beaming with the photos I had taken of the day. I can't wait to get all the photos ready for these two lovely people, but for now this little sneak peak will have to suffice. Enjoy my lovelies, thank you for making my job so easy and so joyful xxx
