Claire and Ben and their two littles Zara and Ethan are such a beautiful family. They are so down to earth and genuine, and I just loved photographing their wonderful wedding at the Four Pillars in Oxford. The sun was beaming so brightly, and the three little flower girls were all giggles and squeals as everyone was getting ready. Claire's dress was so elegant and divine, and the soft grey of the bridesmaid's and flower girls dresses was perfect against the pale pinks of their rose bouquets.
I have to say, this was definitely the most emotional wedding to date. I didn't think that was possible with the weddings I've had this year, but Ben was trying (and failing!) to hold it together as Claire was walked down the aisle by their son Ethan. Even Claire started to well up, and at one point I was just watching them, not through the lens, but with my own eyes, as I saw how immense their love and emotion was for each other. It was one of the loveliest ceremonies I've witnessed.
We all followed out into the courtyard with gorgeous sunshine and before I knew it the time had got away from me, and it was time for the wedding breakfast and speeches. After some amazing food, the sun was lower in the sky and creating some beautiful light so we took the opportunity to go for a stroll along the river, and were quickly joined by all of Ben's friends!
Sylar the magician turned up in the evening, and wowed everyone with his magic (I was taking loads of photos to try and catch him off guard, but still didn't figure out how he stumped us all!). The light was still beautiful outside where I found the flower girls twirling and giggling through the hedge 'maze' as they called it. Claire's friends came out to join in the fun and wanted to recreate a traditional photo they have done for years for all of their weddings. It ended up with Claire being lifted off the floor and everyone in stitches.
I left that evening feeling super happy, and was touched when Claire sent me a message the next day thanking me for all I had done. I love all that I do. It's not always about the photos, it's about just being there, being an extra pair of hands, being involved and a part of such an important day, and I love that. I love being there, seeing all those moments and capturing as many as I can, but also being part of some of those moments. It's a great feeling. So Claire and Ben, thank you for being you, for being so chilled out, for being so welcoming, and for asking me to be there on your incredible day. xx
